Aaron grew up in West Linn and has lived there for all but 4 years of his life (college).  He began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 with the late Carmen Zion of West Linn, and continued with Mrs. Zion for 8 years.  In high-school, he studied with Barbara Parker of Portland.  He was very involved with high school bands and orchestras as an accompanist for nearly every ensemble.  After graduating from West Linn High School in 1993, he went to Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.  There, he studied with Dr. Jill Timmons and earned a B.A. in Music with an emphasis in Piano Performance.

Following graduation from Linfield College in 1997, Aaron moved back to West Linn and began teaching piano.  In 1999, he married Michelle and moved his growing studio to an old farmhouse on Rosemont Road.  In 2001, Aaron and Michelle bought their first home on Summit Street, and in 2002 they remodeled the daylight basement to use as a piano studio.  In the summer of 2009, Aaron and Michelle moved into their current house and piano studio at 4633 Exeter Street.  The 2009-2010 school year is Aaron’s 13th year of teaching piano full-time.

Aaron has been a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) since 2002 and is currently a member of the Oregon Music Teacher's Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs.  In addition to his love of teaching, Aaron enjoys adjudicating for local music organizations and accompanying local high school students in solo-ensemble contests.  His interests include playing the piano, golfing, basketball (he is a big-time Blazer fan!), biking,  howling with his Beagle, and trips to the Oregon Coast with Michelle.
